AOL SET-UP

You can get to the AOL set-up screen which has the modem commands by selecting
Expert Set Up under the Sign On Screen and then choosing the Edit option.  The
settings for the Internal modem are:

Attention: AT
Initialization &F
Configuration: one of the strings below
Reset: Z
Enable Hardware Handshaking:  &K3
Disable Hardware Handshaking:  &K0

Here's some config. strings to try:

V.90 56K:  E0W1Q0V1X4&C1&K3S95=1&D3S7=75S0=0S10=25S202=32

V.34 33.6K:  E0W1Q0V1X4&C1&K3S95=1&D3S7=75S0=0+MS=11,1,300,33600

Restricted V.90:  E0W1X4&C1&K3S95=1&D3S7=75S0=0S202=32+MS=12,,,xxxxx

where xxxxx is a valid V.90 speed: 34000, 34667, 36000, 37333, 38000, 38667, 40000,
41333, 42000, 42667, 44000, 45333, 46000, 46667, 48000, 49333, 50000, 50667, 52000,
53333, 54000, 54667 or 56000.  That will be the maximum connect speed (slower=more
reliable)

Motorola 9.6k: &D2&C1E0V1W1S95=47+CBST=7
Motorola 14.4k: &D2&C1E0V1W1S95=47+CBST=14
Motorola 9.6k V.110: &D2&C1E0V1W1S95=47+CBST=71

FREEPPP SET-UP

Run the FreePPP Setup program.  If you don't see the 'General', 'Account' and
'Locations' tabs, click the arrow in the bottom left corner. Select the General
tab, and click the 'Modem Setup...' button. Under 'Modem Init String Settings',
select the 'Use:' button.  In the field which appears, enter one of the following
strings:

V.90 56K:  AT&FE0W1Q0V1X4&C1&K3S95=1&D3S7=75S0=0S10=25S202=32

V.34 33.6K:  AT&FE0W1Q0V1X4&C1&K3S95=1&D3S7=75S0=0+MS=11,1,300,33600

Restricted V.90:  AT&FE0W1X4&C1&K3S95=1&D3S7=75S0=0S202=32+MS=12,,,xxxxx

where xxxxx is a valid V.90 speed: 34000, 34667, 36000, 37333, 38000, 38667, 40000,
41333, 42000, 42667, 44000, 45333, 46000, 46667, 48000, 49333, 50000, 50667, 52000,
